In its lawsuit, the British company Entertainment One UK requires 32.9 million rubles from Simbat. As its representatives explained to the Kommersant newspaper, the designer, sold in 2018, became the reason for going to court – it depicted a character similar to Peppa’s pig.
With the help of VTsIOM, we conducted a survey in which more than half of the 1,500 respondents considered this character to be Peppa’s pig.

Representatives of Entertainment One UK emphasized that none of Simbat contacted the copyright holders and requested an appropriate license.
As a third party, Yandex.Market is mentioned in the lawsuit, since the designer was sold through the Beru site that belonged to him.
Representatives of Yandex in a conversation with Kommersant only emphasized that sellers themselves place their offers, and they just need to assure the owners of the platform that they have all the licenses.
Simbat is considered one of the largest toy manufacturers in Russia. At the end of 2018, the company’s revenue amounted to 6.5 billion rubles, and net profit of 62.5 million.
By the end of 2019, Peppa-owned Entertainment One UK will go under the control of Hasbro, which will buy it for $ 4 billion.
