Pre-moderation extends to the audio version.
VKontakte concluded an anti-piracy memorandum with the largest book publishers in Russia – including AST, Eksmo, Litres, Alphabet-Atticus, Alpina Publisher and Audiobook – as well as with their online stores.
To detect pirated books, VKontakte will use Copyright Check technology, which automatically compares downloaded files with legal copies. E-books will be compared with the base of the Litres online store, and audio books – with the catalog of the Biblio service.
According to Vedomosti, VKontakte has signed an agreement with publishers for a year and will introduce book pre-moderation next week. Copyright Check will only check downloaded files – but not links to pirated resources.
