Felix “PewDiePie” Chelberg announced his donation in a video dedicated to reaching 100 million YouTube subscribers. 50 thousand dollars will go to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), an American organization dedicated to combating intolerance, in particular anti-Semitism.
Later, the video blogger explained that for him this is a symbolic gesture with which he wants to put an end to the conflict with ADL and some media.
Chelberg intends to get rid of any associations with the tragedy that occurred in March 2019 in the New Zealand city of Christchurch. Then the man who attacked the mosque before the attack urged the audience to subscribe to PewDiePie.
Due to the untrue headlines about me, I’ve been in a bad relationship with major mainstream media for several years now. This did not bother me before.
But after the crazy events in Christchurch a few months ago, they began to use my conflict with the media for evil.
I can no longer tolerate this situation and feel that I have to change something.
Yes, donating ADL will seem strange to many, especially considering that they spoke out against me. I want to publicly show that I can leave conflicts in the past and move on.
I think this is important. This is no longer my struggle.
Felix “PewDiePie” Chelberg
The ADL has not yet responded to the blogger’s donation.
