Gamescom 2019: Schedule and Upcoming Games

What will show this time.

The opening ceremony of the largest gaming exhibition in Europe, Gamescom 2019, will take place on August 19 in Cologne. In total there will be three broadcasts: Google, Microsoft and the opening ceremony of the event.

  • Xbox Game Studios – 12:00 pm Wednesday, in Washington, DC, USA
  • Stadia Connect – 1:00 pm Wednesday, in Washington, DC, USA
  • Gamescom Opening Night Live – 2:00 pm Wednesday, in Washington, DC, USA

We have collected in one material all the relevant information about what publishers and developers plan to bring to the event. More than fifteen companies will make announcements and world premieres.

2K Games

This year’s publisher’s trump card is Borderlands 3. A release will take place on September 13, so Gearbox is unlikely to share any great details: most likely, there will be a new trailer and gameplay from the press.

Also, the publisher will bring sports simulators: NBA 2K20 and, apparently, the recently announced WWE 2K20.

Of the three major releases of the corporation this year, two (Sekiro, a remake of Crash Team Racing) have already happened – only the October Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remains. Until now, Infinity Ward showed us only multiplayer – it remains to finally find out what the story campaign looks like.

Most likely, it will be shown along with trailers from Sony – the company has an exclusive agreement with the publisher.

But you should not expect games from a subsidiary Blizzard: the studio confirmed that it misses the event this year.

Bandai namco

Officially, the publisher did not give evidence, but there are rumors that behind the closed doors they will show Elden Ring, a new game from FromSoftware, developed with the participation of George R.R. Martina.

Also at the event, players will be given the opportunity to try out smaller caliber projects:

  • Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot;
  • Code Vein;
  • One Piece: Pirate Warriors;
  • The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan;
  • One Punch Man: A Hero Nobody Knows;
  • Rad;
  • Disney Tsum Tsum Festival.

After the rights to the franchise went from Activision to Bungie, the developers began to develop it themselves. In October, the Shinykeep add-on is coming to Destiny 2, and, apparently, the developers will talk about it.

Also in the fall, a shareware version of the shooter will be released, and at the end of August it will be possible to transfer the profile from to Steam and between platforms.

CD Projekt RED

At Gamescom, the Polish studio plans to show reporters an “improved” version of the Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay that the press saw behind closed doors during E3 2019. Players will also be shown it at the end of August at PAX.

The details of the demo were already told by journalists here . If you want to keep the effect of surprise, then the material may not be worth reading.

Electronic arts

Almost certainly, the corporation will show the Need for Speed: Heat gameplay, which is about to be announced: the first trailer will be published on August 14 at 16:00 Moscow time. The developers missed the E3 2019, so now is the time.

Moreover, the Plants vs Zombies: Battle for the Neighborville trailer has recently leaked to the network . It should be released before the end of the year, so it is likely that it will also be presented at the exhibition.

Among other games, sports simulators like FIFA 20 are worth waiting for, as well as information on game service updates like Apex Legends or Anthem.

Google stadia

Stadia will have its own broadcast before the Gamescom opening ceremony – August 19 at 20:00 Moscow time. New announcements are worth waiting for – including service launch dates and new supported games.

It is not known whether the company will show its new games during the opening ceremony, however, at the exhibition itself, it will give the opportunity to try out thefollowing releases:

  • Luigi’s Mansion 3;
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening;
  • Astral Chain;
  • Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition;
  • Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020;
  • The Witcher III: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition.

Private division

The Take-Two division, which publishes independent games, is preparing to show several large projects at once.

The first, of course, is The Outer Worlds by Obsidian. The second is Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey from game designer Prince of Persia and Assassin’s Creed Patrice Desile. The third is Desintegration, a sci-fi first-person shooter that Marcus Lehto is one of the creators of Halo.

At the stands, the publisher plans to show Catherine: Full Body, console versions of Two Point Hospital, as well as the retro console Sega Mega Drive Mini. In addition, the company is preparing a surprise in the form of an unannounced AAA game, which is still unknown.

Square enix

The Japanese publisher will focus on two projects – the multiplayer Final Fantasy XIV and Marvel’s The Avengers. The latter does not plan to show gameplay – its developers promise to publish a week after Gamescom. However, at the exhibition itself, players will still be able to test the demos.

What Square Enix showed behind closed doors earlier (and what someone successfully uploaded to the network), the public was indifferent – therefore, the creators plan to improve the demo.

Also, the publisher will show the fourth episode of Life is Strange 2 and two remakes – Final Fantasy VII and Trials of Mana. In addition, the studio People Can Fly (Bulletstorm) plans to bring to the Outriders exhibition, announced at E3 2019.

It is possible that the Final Fantasy VIII remaster, which is expected to be released this year, will also be affected.

Hideo Kojima will come to Gamescom along with Death Stranding. It is still unknown what exactly he plans to show.

Also, as mentioned earlier, together with Sony projects can show the new Modern Warfare.

It is possible that the company will finally share details about Ghost of Tsushima, about which there has been no information since last summer – it is time to already name the release date. The same goes for The Last of Us: Part II.

Thq nordic

The publisher promised to talk about all of his upcoming projects: Biomutant, Desperados III, Darksiders Genesis, a remake of Destroy All Humans !, as well as SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Botoom – Rehydrated.

The company will also reveal the details of two unannounced AAA projects, one of which will be shown at the opening ceremony. Perhaps this is the new Saint’s Row – in a recent report, the publisher confirmed that it is in development.

Also, the Deep Silver division will talk about the first plot addition for Metro: Exodus – “Two Colonels”.

The company does not prepare serious announcements – it will only once again show Watch Dogs: Legion, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, Just Dance 2020, as well as Roller Champions – a multiplayer game in the spirit of the Rocket League.

In addition, we should expect information about service updates – Rainbow Six: Siege, Trials: Rising and, possibly, Division 2.

Microsoft plans to hold its own stream – August 19 at 19:00 Moscow time. Show Horde mode for Gears 5 and Minecraft: Dungeons. Also, during the exhibition itself, visitors will be given the opportunity to play a remaster of Age of Empires II, Battletoads, Borderlands 3, Bleeding Edge, Doom Eternal and the above games.
