Media: the perpetrator of the arson in the anime studio Kyoto Animation explained his actions by revenge for plagiarism

Through his fault, 33 people died.


According to The Japan Times , the arsonist in the Kyoto Animation building explained his actions with revenge – the studio allegedly stole the plot of the work from him. The publication reports that at the scene, the police found knives, and the suspect in the arson was wounded, and he was taken to hospital.

The fire at Kyoto Animation’s office occurred on July 18. An unknown man burst into the building shouting “Die!”, Poured flammable liquid in the room and set it on fire. As a result of the fire, 33 people died – this is the largest number of victims of arson over the past 30 years in Japan.
