Gearbox Scriptwriter: Borderlands will never be a role-playing game with extensive dialogues

Luther-shooter will remain himself.

In a conversation with GamesRadar +, one of Borderlands 3 screenwriters, Sam Winkler, said that this time the developers wanted to get the feeling that the characters are involved in the story. That is why now they respond in dialogues with the NPC and comment on what is happening around.

Earlier in the Borderlands games in the dialogues, the main characters remained silent, with the exception of some moments from The Pre-Sequel.

However, Winkler clarified that Gearbox is not going to go further and change the concept of the Borderlands. According to him, the game will never turn into a deep RPG with extensive dialogues – it’s not about that.

Role elements meanwhile appear in more and more large-scale open world games, like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. It is possible that now they will be in other games Ubisoft.

As for the Gearbox, in its case there is no need for such changes. Judging by the first reviews of journalists who played Borderlands 3 on the preview event, the game is exactly what is expected of it.

Borderlands 3 will be released September 13.
