EA’s title was the only major release of the week.
In the first week of sales, Anthem took the top spot in the UK retail ranking. 54% of the copies of the game fell on the PS4, 40% on the Xbox One, and the rest on the PC.
Anthem was the only new release last week and bypassed Far Cry: New Dawn and Metro Exodus, which took place on February 15th. In general, the EA multiplayer shooter showed a weak start. The fastest selling titles in 2019 in the UK are still Resident Evil 2 and Kingdom Hearts III.
Also, according to analyst Daniel Ahmad, Anthem’s UK print run was only 10% of the original Destiny’s sales in the first week. Probably, a significant proportion of copies sold by EA Title fell on digital stores, as the game is focused on going online.
According to Ahmad, Anthem’s retail sales in the region totaled about 40 thousand copies. Destiny for the first week has sold more than 400 thousand copies , and The Division – 277 thousand copies . In comparison with Mass Effect: Andromeda Anthem sold two times worse. Andromeda, in turn, sold out at the start two times worse than the third part of Mass Effect.
Sales of Far Cry: New Dawn, in turn, fell by 43% compared with the previous week – the game ranked second in the ranking. The decline in sales of Metro: Exodus was 55%, and the shooter itself went down to fifth place.
Thanks to regional shares, FIFA 19 rose from fifth to third place and showed sales growth of 44%. Forza Horizon 4 has also moved from 15th to 6th place due to discounts.
