NPD: Kingdom Hearts III became the best-selling game of January in the US, overtaking Resident Evil 2

               

And Ace Combat 7 set a franchise record.

According to the research firm NPD Group, in January 2019, the US spent $ 893 million on video games, consoles and accessories. This is 19% less than the year before – then total revenues exceeded 1.1 billion.

The most successful game of the month was Kingdom Hearts III. Its sales in dollar equivalent are two and a half times as high as the last franchise record – the second part of the series, released in 2006.

The second line in the general chart took a remake of Resident Evil 2 from Capcom, although the horror managed to beat the game from Square Enix on sales on Xbox One.

Two other major releases of January are the New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown – took the third and seventh positions respectively.

At the same time, the arcade flight simulator showed a record result for the franchise – 80% more revenue than the Ace Combat 6 for the same period.

The most salable console in January 2019 was Switch. With the fact that players spent on the console by 28% less than a year earlier, revenue increased only at the device from Nintendo.
