Age of Wonders: Planetfall, Imperator: Rome and additions – what Paradox showed at the PDXCON conference

The company Paradox Interactive held its own conference, where it announced several future projects.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall

The first of these was the global turn-based strategy Age of Wonders: Planetfall from Triumph Studios, responsible for the past parts and the Overlord series. The creators promise an exciting development of empires and tactical battles familiar to fans of previous games, but in a new sci-fi setting.

In Age of Wonders: Planetfall, players will have to create their own galactic empire from scratch, explore the remnants of a destroyed civilization, and meet other groups that are trying to survive. We will have to build a lot, negotiate and develop technology. There will be a full-fledged single-player mode, as well as playing on random maps or against friends in multiplayer.

Victory can be achieved either with the help of conquests or lethal weapons, as well as a well-thought system of diplomacy.

Age of Wonders: Planetfall has no exact release date yet, but the release is scheduled for 2019. The game will be released on PCs and consoles, but the developers did not specify on which ones.

Imperator: Rome

In addition, Paradox introduced another new game – the global strategy Imperator: Rome, in which players will have the opportunity to develop history alternatively, depending on their conquests.

The action will unfold over four centuries, ranging from ancient Greece and ending with the emergence of the Roman Empire. Players will be able to control any of the available states, developing it and conquering new territories, to eventually overshadow the largest known empires.

Players will manage entire countries and different factions, as well as monitor the loyalty of their own generals. The authors promise in the game a living world with characters, each of which will have their own abilities, changing with time. They will help keep order in the provinces and will command armies and fleets.

Each region will have its own culture and religion, while the players will need to watch over them and provide them with everything they need, since the success of the conquests depends on it. In addition, different nations will have different combat operations, and they will have different types of troops, abilities and bonuses.

You will also have to not only conquer new territories, but also discourage your own from the raids of the barbarians or suppress rebellions of disgruntled governors and generals, who can set up part of the army against the player.

In Imperator: Rome there will be a diverse development of the regions, including the construction of buildings, roads and fortifications, as well as a system of internal trade between the regions.

Hearts of Iron IV: Man the Guns

Paradox also announced several DLCs for games already released. For Hearts of Iron IV, a supplement called Man the Guns will be released, which will expand the diplomacy available in the strategy and add more naval battles and research.

For example, the game will be able to design their own warships and pump them with additional armor and weapons. Among the diplomatic options, developers will add new development paths for the United States and other nations.

Additional details of the authors of the game will be shared soon. Together with Man the Guns will also be released a major update that will be available to all owners of the main game for free.

DLC will come out “soon”, and its price will be $ 19.99 (in the Russian Steam segment, the cost has not yet been indicated).

Crusader Kings II: Holy Fury

For Crusader Kings II, Holy Fury will be released, which will add religious wars to the strategy. According to the developers, this is the most comprehensive DLC for the game.

Players will be able to control a group of religious warriors and lead their army on the Crusades. The authors took the northern campaigns of German, Danish and Swedish knights against their pagan neighbors. You can choose the side of the conflict yourself.

The developers have promised the game on the maps of Europe, where they will manage a small kingdom that fights for the territory, and on random maps with analogies from real history. A special system of “origin” of great warriors will appear, thanks to which the characters will have different bonuses depending on their ancestors, for example, Genghis Khan, Charlemagne and other historical figures.

As in other global strategies, there will be an opportunity to achieve their goals both with the help of persuasion and diplomacy, and with the help of cunning, including setting neighbors against each other. Also in the game will be special events for the Crusades.

The release of Crusader Kings II: Holy Fury is scheduled for 2018. Along with the addition will also be released and a large free update for the owners of the base game.

Europa Universalis IV: Dharma

In addition, the developers of the global strategy for Europa Universalis IV reported on the imminent release of a DLC called Dharma, which will focus on the territories of the Indian subcontinent.

In this supplement, the authors have focused on the peaceful interaction of states, especially the various nations of India and nearby countries. The main innovation will be a modified system of government administration, as well as special reforms. Players will receive advanced opportunities to create their own power structures, with which you can make your kingdom or republic and develop them depending on the chosen goals.

The developers also remade the political system of the game, improved trade between the provinces and added many new tasks available when choosing the Indian Sultanate.

As before, along with Dharma, a free update will appear in Europa Universalis IV, in which the authors will rework the map of India and the surrounding territories existing in the base game. DLC will be released before the end of 2018.

Board games

The company also spent some time on board games. Representatives of Paradox said that the studio is working with several game designers at once to adapt their own game series.

In this format, Crusader Kings, Europa Universalis, Hearts of Iron and Cities: Skylines will be released, while the authors promise to capture the essence and themes of these series, which will allow players to “tell their own stories in new ways.”

The first is the adaptation of Crusader Kings, which is being worked on by the company Free League Publishing, which is responsible for such role-playing games as Mutant Year Zero and Tales from the Loop RPG. Party members will be able to develop their dynasties and compete with each other for military, religious and political superiority with the help of various maps and figures.

For the production of the board game by Crusader Kings, a Kickstarter fundraiser has also been announced . In total, it is necessary to collect a little more than 57 thousand dollars, of which for 31 days before the end of the campaign almost 25 thousand have been collected.
