At the end of last year, Gatwick, one of the largest airports in London, suffered because of reports of flying near drones: about a thousand flights had to be canceled, airlines suffered losses. Now a similar situation has happened at the US Newark Liberty International Airport. This is the 11th US airport by load.
A spokesman for the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said that two drones were noticed near the airport. They flew at an altitude of about one kilometer (3500 feet) over another airport – Teterboro, which is located about 27 kilometers from New Ark Liberty. The authorities decided to close the airport due to concerns that the plane might collide with the drone. Air traffic has now been restored.
Recently, similar incidents become more. Drone pilots are forbidden to control aircraft near airports, but this does not stop everyone.
The threat of a crash when an aircraft collides with a drone is quite real: for example, in September 2017, the UH-60M Black Hawk crashed into a small drone. The victims were avoided, but the helicopter was damaged.
