Good, very much so.
Until today, all available information about the promising GeForce RTX 2060 video card, which should be presented at CES 2019, was obtained from a variety of leaks, the accuracy of which can be questioned.
But now we can share really complete and reliable information about what to expect from this new product, which should bring the technology of hardware ray tracing in the average price segment. New information was reported by Videocardz.com , which was able to obtain official guidelines for reviewers, and published excerpts from it in violation of the embargo.
The most important thing is that GeForce RTX 2060 video cards will actually have 1920 CUDA cores, 240 tensor cores and 30 RT cores for hardware ray tracing. In addition, these GPUs will have 120 texturing units (TMUs) and 48 raster operations units (ROPs). The base frequency will be 1365 MHz with the possibility of increasing it in Boost mode to 1680 MHz for both reference cards and Founders Edition. At the same time, NVIDIA partners will be able to offer both models with nominal frequencies and overclocked modifications.
As previously assumed, in the original version of the GeForce RTX 2060 video card, 6 GB GDDR6 SDRAM with a 192-bit bus will be completed. The effective frequency of video memory, like other members of the Turing family, will be 14 Gbit / s per contact, which corresponds to a bandwidth of 336 GB / s.
From the point of view of positioning the GeForce RTX 2060, NVIDIA is presented as a replacement for the GeForce GTX 1060. However, the guide for reviewers claims that the new product will be comparable in performance to the GeForce GTX 1070 Ti.
The recommended cost of GeForce RTX 2060 is set at $ 349 (24.3 thousand rubles), which is $ 100 higher than the official price of the maximum version of the GeForce GTX 1060. The official announcement is scheduled for January 7, but card sales will begin in a week – January 15. One of the games will be added to the kit with video cards – Battlefield V or Anthem.
Since NVIDIA decided to retain support for hardware ray tracing for the GeForce RTX 2060, the question arises about the possibility of its use in practice. But, as the company promises, to play “with rays” on this map is quite real. For example, in Battlefield V at 1080p, the GeForce RTX 2060 video card should provide an average frame rate of 58 fps with ultra-ray tracing and 66 fps with average quality. In the case of switching to a higher resolution of 1440p, the average frame rate will decrease to 43 and 53 fps with ultra and medium quality tracing, respectively. But in any case, these numbers are above the threshold of playability, according to NVIDIA.
The test results at the moment look like this:
