According to rumors, the company is preparing to offer customers five thousand cars – almost twice as many as the rest of the capital car sharing combined.
In February 2018, Yandex will launch its own car sharing service in Moscow called Yandex.Drive. About this told representatives of the company.
The “Drive” car park will consist of Renault Kaptur, Kia Rio and Kia Rio X-Line cars leased. It will not intersect with the fleet of Yandex.Taxi, and the company itself will operate under a separate legal entity Yandex.Drive, the company assured.
“Yandex” plans to announce service rates later. “We have carefully studied the market and are guided by current offers,” said the head of Drive, Anton Ryazanov. Until February, Yandex will conduct internal testing of the project, but now the company understands that it is necessary to offer customers extended insurance, he explained.
Like other car-sharing services in Moscow, Drive will operate under the Moscow Carsharing brand. How many cars will be in the company’s park is not disclosed, but Ryazanov expects that the project “will significantly affect the number of cars available for booking.”
The “Drive” applications are already available on the App Store and Google Play – according to Yandex representatives, this is necessary for pre-registering drivers. The company promises that if by the end of January 2018, the user specifies the same phone number in “Drive” and “Yandex. Taxi”, then from each trip in a taxi service at the expense of “Drive” will be charged 20% of the cost of each order. The funds received can be later spent on rental cars.
In October 2017, Trusher publication reported on the possible launch of Yandex car sharing . According to the project, the company planned to start the service in the middle of 2018 and put into operation about five thousand cars during the year.
By August 2017 in Moscow there were about 2.5 thousand cars that belonged to five services. According to the estimates of the Moscow Department of Transportation, the car sharing park of 10-15 thousand cars will be optimal for Moscow.
In October 2017, Yandex closed its car-sharing machine aggregator, which worked for about six months. Data about cars remained in the application “Yandex.Transport”.
